Post treatment after a peel- what to expect!

While a number of factors influence what you will experience after receiving a chemical exfoliation treatment, here are some general guidelines. These guidelines are based on the peels that we use at The Skyn Distillery which are superficial peels and include our Bright Skin, Firm Skin, and Acne Skin Peels.

Downtime is usually 1-3 days for superficial peels

Days 1-2

Minor irritation, including redness, is normal. On day 2 the skin may look and feel dry and or tight. Typically there will not be any visible sloughing with this level of exfoliation. Initially, you may experience irritation, including redness and the skin may deepen in color, this usually subsides within the first 24 hours post treatment.

Days 3-7

The skin may continue to feel dry and tight. At this time, mild to moderate flaking is normal with this level of exfoliation.

Things that can occur:

If you have congestion in in the underlying epidermis of the skin, this can purge through after treatment. Causing some small bumps or acne. This was bacteria that was there prior to the treatment that is now purging due to the cell turnover from the exfoliation.
